Felhívás a világ magyarjaihoz, Japán megsegítésére

Először megrengett a föld. Történelmünk legnagyobb földrengése széttépte az emberek házait és az ipari létesítményeket. Ezt követte az özönvízszerű tengeráradat. A fekete, gyilkosan tomboló ár ereje autóbuszokat, hajókat és házakat repített fel a még álló, több emeletes épületek tetejére. A válság az atomerőművek megsérülésével és nukleáris katasztrófával fenyeget. Japán rémálma folytatódik. Azóta több mint hétszázszor rengett a föld. A testileg-lelkileg megrokkant túlélők ezrei vesztették el családtagjaikat és földi javaikat, betegek, éheznek, fáznak és tanácstalanok.
Segítenünk kell!
Ilyen szavakkal kezdeményezett gyűjtést a Magyarok Világszövetségének a Kárpát-medencétől legtávolabb eső, Ausztráliai Országos Tanácsa, amit ezennel egyetemes magyar üggyé teszünk.
Összmagyar gyűjtést indítunk Japán megsegítésére!
A magyar emberek emlékezetében még sajgóan friss a vörösiszap okozta szörnyűség. Ahhoz, hogy a Japánt ért csapás valós méreteit felfoghassuk, állítsuk egymás mellé a két borzalom adatait: a 10 magyarországi halálos áldozat mellé a szökőárban elpusztult és eltűnt több mint 20 ezer japánt, az összedőlt vagy lebontásra ítélt 400 devecseri, kolontári és somlóvásárhelyi ház mellé a közel 100 ezer Japánban megsemmisült házat, a párezer hajléktalanná vált magyar testvérünket a 600 ezer japánnal! Ha mindennek összegzéseként az 55 milliárd forintos vörösiszap-kárt a közel 50 ezer milliárd forintnyi kárt okozó földrengéssel és szökőárral vetjük össze, rádöbbenünk, hogy jóllehet a japánok tízszer annyian vannak, mint mi magyarok, az egy főre eső kár százszor nagyobb a mienknél! Ezért felhívással fordulunk a világ minden magyarjához, minden magyar cégéhez, egyesületekhez, alapítványhoz és önkormányzathoz:

Japán tragédiája még nem ért véget!
Minket, magyarokat különösképpen megérint és cselekvésre késztet Japán tragédiája. A ködbevesző, sok ezer éves történelmi múltban, japánok és magyarok egyazon kultúrkörhöz tartoztak. Ékes bizonyítéka e kapcsolatnak vezetéknevünket elsőként mondó és író névhasználatunk. Kazár Lajos japán-magyar nyelvészeti kutatásai és Hideo Matsumoto orvosprofesszornak a vér marker-génjeire vonatkozó megállapításai, japánoknak és magyaroknak a kulturális kapcsolatokon túlmutató, azoknál szorosabb emberi kapcsolataira utalnak.

Appeal for help for Japan
First of all, there was the earthquake. The strongest earthquake in the history of the world destroyed homes and workplaces. This was followed by the tsunami and flood. The strength of the black, murderous flood tossed busses, boats and houses on top of the apartment houses. This crisis threatened to cause a nuclear catastrophe in the damaged nuclear plants. Japan’s nightmare continues. Since that time, there have been 700 smaller earthquakes. The physically and spiritually shaken thousands of survivors have lost family members and all their worldly goods. They are ill, hungry, cold and helpless.
We must help!
With these words, the Australian Council, the farthest member of the World Federation of Hungarians, calls for a collection from all Hungarians to help the victims of the catastrophe in Japan, which we consider to be a united Hungarian effort.

The tragedy of the red sludge is still vivid in the minds of the Hungarians. So that we may understand the scope of the Japanese tragedy, let us examine, side by side, the data from the two catastrophes:
Ten people died from the flood of red sludge in Hungary; whereas, in Japan, twenty thousand people have died or are missing. In Devecser, Kolontár and Somlóvásárhely, 400 houses were destroyed or condemned; whereas, in Japan, about 100 thousand houses were destroyed. In Hungary, there were a couple of thousand people made homeless; whereas, in Japan, 600 thousand are homeless! If, in addition to this, we compare the damages caused by the red sludge, which were about 55 billion forints (275 million dollars), with the 50 thousand billion forints (250 billion dollars) caused by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we will come to the conclusion that, although the Japanese population is ten times greater than the Hungarian population, the loss per person is a hundred times greater than ours. Therefore, we are appealing to all the Hungarians in the World, to every Hungarian company, organization, institution, and local government to help the Japanese people:
Let us come to the aid of the Japanese people who are in extreme need!

We ask that every Hungarian newspaper, news agency, e-mail list and every Hungarian language radio and television station publish our charitable appeal!
We ask that the Hungarians abroad inform their non-Hungarian friends and acquaintances about the appeal and urge them to donate to the Japanese people!
We ask that the Hungarian communities be prepared – in case the situation in Japan becomes worse – to welcome Japanese children and adults temporarily into their homes!
Japan’s tragedy is not yet over!
We Hungarians are particularly impacted by Japan’s tragedy and we are compelled to take action. In the far-distant past, several thousand years ago, the Japanese and Hungarians (Magyars) belonged to the same cultural circle. One proof of this is our custom of writing and speaking our family name first, as do the Japanese. The linguistic research of Lajos Kazár and the genetic research of Dr. Hideo Matsumoto demonstrate the cultural connections between the Japanese and Hungarian people and their even closer human relations.
This solidarity is also evident among the members of the Hungarian National Ice-hockey Team, who sent a heartrending message to their Japanese counterparts:
